I think lsr kind of covered most of it. Loki’s father was Farbauti, and his mother was Laufey. To the best of my knowledge, Laufey was pretty chill (no pun intended).

No, the giants are sometimes antagonists, but not necessarily evil. It’s not as black and white as the Christian morality. Each god and goddess was both benevolent and invariably did stupid or selfish things.
